A13 Junction Improvements

Back

Modular Block Retaining WallsThe specialist construction of the first phase of reinforced soil modular block retaining walls at the A13/A1014 interchange at Stanford Le Hope, Essex was completed in 2013. The retaining walls and structures were to provide our client, Murphy Group, with the abutments and wing walls to the new bridge that is part of the overall improvement works for an extensive interchange and slip road widening.

The retaining structures were built directly adjacent to the existing bridge, allowing the replacement to be slid into place and existing one demolished in a quick, smooth transition. The construction of these walls took place in close proximately to the constantly running (but sometimes blocked) A13 which involved a high emphasis on Health and Safety and Quality and Project Management.

Given the tight working space and very short build programme, our specialist work force worked continuously to provide Murphy's with an exquisitely finished block retaining wall system as new abutments to their bridge.
