Soil Nailing

hidden

Soil NailingSoil nailing is an effective solution for cutting slopes by adopting top down methods.

Utilising the strength and durability of steel reinforced bars, soil nailing opens up the possibility of a number of slope stabilisation and earth retention options. Highly reliable and cost effective, this method suits unstable cutting slopes and will support cohesive soils in both the temporary and permanent design condition and supplementary support for existing  retaining walls.

During the soil nailing process, high yield steel bars are installed into pre-drilled holes and grouted in place without tensioning but instead applying the benefits of friction between the soil nail annulus and the embedded geology, giving a simple, quick and cost effective stabilising and retaining structure.

Based in Ashford, Kent, we work for some of the biggest contractors, housing developers and commercial companies across London, Surrey, Sussex, Kent and the rest of the UK, helping to provide extensive slope stabilisation services, including the installation of high quality and reliable soil nailing.

New BuildsPerfect for new installations or remedial works

The minimalist and simple approach of soil nailing makes it an easy method to utilise on new builds and current construction works across the UK, as well as in remedial situations where land slips have or are likely to occur or strengthening existing retaining walls that have displaced or partially failed.

ReinforcementFlexibility in strength

The exact method of installation, gauge and spacing of steel reinforcement and facings will be determined at design stage. These facings can be flexible such as timber crib walling or rigid, such as spray applied shotcrete, offering versatility in structural form and finish. We are able to design a soil nailing solution which fits aesthetic and soil strength requirements, limiting costs and simplifying engineering design and installation.

Reinforced SoilSoil nailing is ideal in natural environments

Soil nailing works best in cohesive ground and is optimal for retaining natural slopes in landscaped settings and for strengthening existing retaining walls or in cutting situations perhaps adjacent to roads and railway lines.

Highly adaptable, soil nailing can be utilised as a stand alone reinforced soil solution or in conjunction with retaining walls or slope facing systems. More robust techniques, such as contiguous piling are also possible as ground and imposed loading conditions dictate.

We work alongside housing developers, contractors and commercial companies across London, Kent and the rest of the UK, providing high quality, reliable and effective soil nailing services.
